In the last time Anderson Silva (The Spider) was defeated, his opponent was Yushin Okami (Thunder) on January 20, 2006 in the event Rumble on the Rock 8 held in Hawaii (watch the full fight above).

Anderson Silva was dominating the fight when he knocked out Okami from his back to the floor with an incredible heel kick to the Japanese face. The surprising strike was eventually deemed illegal by the referee, as Okami had both knees to the ground and by the rule of that event he could not be kicked.

The strike was considered a fault and Okami had 5 minutes to recover from the KO and return to the fight. But the Japanese claimed that he wasn’t able to return to the fight and the referee had no alternative. The Japanese was declared the winner and Anderson lost the bout by the way of disqualification.

The Spider claims that Okami took advantage of the situation to win the fight without having merits for it. That defeat was stuck in Anderson’s throat.

The rematch was finally set to the UFC 134, an event held at HSBC Arena in the city of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on 27 August 2011 and left no doubts about the superiority of Anderson Silva.
