Brad Pickett To Face Eddie Wineland At UFC 155

Pickett will meet Wineland in Las Vegas, supporting the Dos Santos vs. Velasquez main event.

Top British fighter Brad “One Punch” Pickett (22-6) has a name and a date for his return to action following a huge win over Yves Jabouin on home soil last month.

The Londoner will take on American Eddie Wineland (19-8-1) in Las Vegas at UFC 155, which is set to take place on December 29th. Both parties have verbally agreed to the matchup.

An emphatic KO over the surging Jabouin put Pickett right back in the mix at the top of the 135lbs division, with back-to-back stoppage victories following the loss to interim champion Renan Barao. It certainly hasn’t made Pickett gunshy, and he’s been in fine form since the slip almost a year ago.

His come-forward, exciting style was again evident in his most recent outing, as both fighters landed some good shots in the UFC On Fuel 5 contest, but a monster uppercut from Pickett sealed the deal and put an exclamation mark on his return to winning ways.

He meets a tough adversary in Wineland, a former champion in the now defunct WEC. Of his nineteen victories, Wineland has finished sixteen of them, with ten coming via T/KO. He has won five of his last seven bouts, with the only losses coming via decision to Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez.

This tees up yet another prospective Fight of the Night clash for the Brit, with Wineland no stranger to Fight Night bonuses either. He gained the accolade last time out when he finished Scott Jorgensen at UFC On FX in June. He was the first man to knock Jorgensen out, and with both having a recent taste of that KO success, you can bet they’ll be wanting more in December.

Pickett vs, Wineland will feature as part of the supporting card at UFC 155, which is topped by the heavyweight title fight between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.
